Facepunch, the creators of the Rust survival game, are constantly tweaking their product by releasing patches, and they have apparently been working on improving the water graphics.

A new video recently demonstrated some changes and developments that will come to the rough wilderness game Rust from Facepunch Studios. Survival is the sole goal of this complex 2018 game, and it is known for how tough it can be. Gamers at the start have nothing but a rock and lamp, not even clothing, and it can be a challenge for newbies to make it through their first few days dodging opponents and animals while searching for supplies. One alteration will affect the level of authenticity of the water.

Now that the festive Rust Christmas event has concluded with minefields inspired by gingerbread and store items to get us in the holiday spirit, Facepunch is looking forward to developing new patches. These patches will include bug fixes, general quality upgrades, and a hardcore mode for true masochists. The studio is continuing to make improvements in future updates.

The SHADOWFRAX YouTube channel was seen by PCGamesN and reported that Rust is going to get some updates in the near future. Adapters will be brought in to interlink structures and the game’s water is set to have a big visual overhaul - with lagoons, more violent storms the further out a boat goes, etc. The boat physics are also due for an improvement. It is unlikely that these alterations will make the cut for February’s update and it is feasible that there’s a probability of these plans changing.

Among fans of Rust, its well known for the regular and extensive updates that go beyond small alterations. Since it was put in early access in December 2013, there have been a lot of features added to the game. While these all enhance it, it’s still a challenging title.

Some think of it as among the toughest survival video games out there, comparable to 7 Days to Die, Dont Starve, The Long Dark, and DayZ. Such a challenge is due to the fact that players must be vigilant not just of one another, but of the environment itself filled with risky elements such as untamed beasts and extreme climates. The game definitely makes the players prove their capabilities, but the intense playstyle is what keeps certain admirers engaged.
