John Carpenter, the acclaimed horror movie director, may have unintentionally revealed the news that a Dead Space film is being developed.

John Carpenter, a well-known movie director famous for horror films such as Halloween, Escape From New York, and The Thing, might’ve unintentionally revealed that there is a Dead Space movie in the works. As one of the most talked about video games slated for 2023, many survival horror aficionados are delighted at the idea of such a contemporary adaptation of Viscerals beloved 2008 game. With the recent trend of video game-based TV shows and movies, it wouldn’t be unexpected for Dead Space to join their ranks.

John Carpenter, widely known for his iconic movies, is also a board game enthusiast. Last year, he stated how intriguing he would find it to make a movie based on the game Dead Space; however, this was not an indication of an ongoing project. It makes perfect sense for him to take on the project, as his earlier projects share significant resemblances to the horror elements that Dead Space offers.

Recently, Carpenter spoke to Variety and may have revealed something about a potential movie adaptation of Dead Space. In response to the question, he said he was shocked that his prior comments made it around, stressing that he was not involved in any such project. He then went on to imply that there may be someone else on board, which has sparked speculation that a movie is actually in the works. While it might have been an offhand comment, fans of the horror game may be encouraged to think that a film is close. But it’s still too soon to raise any expectations.

It seems unlikely that John Carpenter will direct a movie based on Dead Space, which would be a pity because of his passion for video games and his past success in horror films. Recently, some of his favorite games have been titles like Fallout 76, Borderlands, and Horizon: Forbidden West.

Right now, there is inadequate information as to whether EA Motive/Viscerals game will be transferred to the large or small screen. While this year marks 15 years since the debut of Dead Space, some argue a rendition should have been created by now. Fortunately, supporters have the remake to look ahead to.
