Elizabeth Warren Supports Programmers of the Working Class Amid Reports of Anti-Union Practices From Parent Firm, Activision Blizzard

US senator Elizabeth Warren has declared she stands behind the staff at Proletariat, an American video game company recently bought by Activision Blizzard. An outcry has emerged as management from each firm allegedly is battling attempts from employees to unionise, denying any willingness to honour their organisation struggles.

The PWA needs to get approval from the NLRB in order to unionize, conducting a confidential election among staff. Yet, the personnel claim that an overwhelming majority are in support of unionizing, accusing the supervisors of attempting to prevent the union from forming.

Proletariat, a development studio for World of Warcraft, got taken over by Activision Blizzard last year. Refusing to acknowledge union membership and making employees vote on the NLRB is similar to the techniques used by Activision Blizzard for other unionisation initiatives, likely being done to prevent workers from taking charge and trying to get rights for themselves.

Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat, has expressed her approval for unionising employees, proclaiming her solidarity with them in their struggle for equitable advantages and proper circumstances in their place of work.

Senator Warren has shared her opinions about the gaming industry workforce previously. During the earlier half of 2022, the senator had expressed concern regarding Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard. She, along with Sen. Bernie Sanders, asked the Federal Trade Commission to block the takeover if it was believed to be damaging to the workers. Last April, Warren proposed the Prohibiting Anticompetitive Mergers Act, which would make it tougher for such mergers to happen.

It is yet unknown if any other US politicians will back Proletariats employees. Neither Proletariat nor Activision Blizzard has so far replied to Senator Warren’s statement.
