Konami has started to get input on new Silent Hill games by asking developers and creators to pitch their ideas. Later in 2022, they made a statement that multiple Silent Hill projects are currently in production, such as a remake of the classic 2001 release. After many years of anticipation, followers of the franchise will soon get the chance to journey into the haunting village and experience new storylines.

It appears that Silent Hill fans have a great deal to anticipate, especially after the death of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toros P.T. in 2015. Along with a remake, Townfall, Ascension, and a new movie from writer and director Christophe Gans, there have been whispers of three more Silent Hill ventures that have yet to be unveiled. Konami, which owns the Silent Hill intellectual property, has released a statement seemingly relating to any possible future games in the franchise.

In a recent discussion with IGN, Motoi Okamoto, a producer in the Silent Hill series, affirmed that Konami is eager to listen to proposals from other developers and anticipates more Silent Hill projects in the near future. This was made possible as the series' return was not made public until recent months, thus making it impossible for the team to request proposals prior. With this information now being openly available, creators have been asked to forward their suggestions, showing that Konami is devoted to its expansion of the franchise. Moreover, Okamoto guarantees that every submission will be heard, assuring that they are willing to listen to any offered ideas.

The situation has changed drastically in regards to video games concerning the Silent Hill franchise, since the release of Downpour and Book of Memories back in 2012. There are tons of coming projects in the works, bringing about newfound potential for new games. Of course, a lot of focus this time around is on Bloober Teams version of Silent Hill 2, which they have been working on since 2019. It will be interesting to see how the developer behind Layers of Fear will interpret the critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 follow-up.

Fans are certainly anticipating the new Silent Hill installment after a long wait, due to the role it played in forming the survival-horror genre in the mid-1990s, which was largely launched by Resident Evil. It will be intriguing to observe which studio steps forward with an entry in the franchise.

At the moment, there are several projects underway related to Silent Hill.
