Fallout 2: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, though its release was over two decades ago, is still around today. Thanks to modifications, the classic isometric RPG has been revitalized - this includes modification to the point of conversion into a first-person shooter.
A group is in the process of working on a mod that would substantially increase the amount of talking characters featured in the video game (according to PCGamesN). The game initially had thirteen characters with close up shots and voices for particular NPCs. Making the clay models for these characters was a lengthy activity, so the overall number of talking heads in Fallout 1 and 2 was much smaller than anticipated.
A modification made by Goat_Boy to Fallout 2, known as the Talking Heads Addon mod, featured more than 100 original talking heads. A new project has just begun, with the intention of incorporating voice-acting into each of these talking heads.
This project, by Black_Electric, contains 600 lines of dialogue with 17 featured talking heads with many having voice-acted lines. The mod is still in its Alpha stage and can be obtained at Nexus Mods; however, not all the voices are yet perfect or qualified. Black_Electric is looking to recruit more talent.
This mod is just beginning to take shape and we have need for volunteer voice actors with talent to help us as we move forward. We still have a large number of characters that need to be cast. If you’re interested, take a look at the list of characters the modder has made available.
It is fantastic that devotees of this much-loved classic of 1998 are investing their effort in expanding and refining Black Isle’s project, which like other developers, was frequently forced to reduce its aspirations due to the limits of time and money.
Goat_Boy’s Talking Heads Addon mod can be obtained by downloading it here, whereas the Black_Electric mod which features voice-acting for that mod can be found here.
