It looks like Riot Games are in the process of revamping the emote system in League of Legends. This change is expected to be a major increase in the system’s overall capabilities, which many believe to be crucial to the gaming experience.

Jordan Checkman, the Design Lead for League of Legends, has recently gone to Reddit to address questions and comments from the community. He indicated that Riot Games is already looking into upgrades and alterations to the game’s communication system and are in the stage of gathering information.

Checkman stated that it was a logical decision to grow the emotes wheel from its current five to nine, however, this expansion magnifies the quantity of distinctive emotes that the game has to load by forty.

League of Legends necessitates an increased quantity of random access memory to operate properly. The developer explained that Riot Games has taken special measures to reduce usage without diminishing quality, as the gaming platform is used on a variety of systems worldwide.

Checkman spoke about potential changes that are being considered. He explained that they are looking into ways to better manage emotes and create multiple emote pages. Additionally, they want to improve the system in other ways. Even though they are not wanting to deliver everything at once, they are aware that the number of emotes exceed the ways they can be used. He was confident that emotes would eventually become even better due to the work of the designer.
