In ten days, World of Warcraft in China is set to be deactivated, however, Tencent will be launching a new Massively Multiplayer Online role-playing Game to users for testing this week.

Blizzard’s video games, including World of Warcraft and Overwatch 2, will cease to function in China starting on January 23rd, as Blizzard and NetEase couldn’t agree to a contract extension. Now, all Blizzard games will be required to receive authorization by the Chinese authorities. Nevertheless, although Blizzard is actively negotiating with new associates to keep WoW in China, Tencent has created its own MMO.

Tarisland boasts an animated-style rather than super-realism, and it includes the bonus of rideable dragons - something more recently added to World of Warcraft with their Dragonflight feature. The video trailer is almost 3 minutes long and displays a variety of unearthed settlements, open meadows, forests, enchanted places with walkable planks, sky cities, and more.

The preview for the movie features a massive fiery black dragon with red accents, invading the scene on its hind legs and expeling blaze from its mouth - it resembles the Deathwing from World of Warcraft.

Bloomberg news has reported that the online game World of Warcraft has been highly successful in China, leading pioneering games company Tencent to create its own MMO to compete with it. Meanwhile, as Blizzard works to restore World of Warcraft service, another game called Lost Ark has been authorized to operate in the Chinese market. Tarisland is also trying to take WoWs place while they are inactive.

It is yet to be determined which company Blizzard intends to collaborate with to reboot titles like Overwatch 2 and World of Warcraft, but at this point the three most prominent contenders are Tencent, ByteDance Ltd., and Perfect World– who are in charge of Valve games such as Dota 2.

Until World of Warcraft is functional again, Chinese gamers can be excited for the arrival of Tarisland, which will begin to allow players to test it on computers and cell phones this week. This game looks a lot alike WoW, and contains several of the same voice actors, so they may hear the character of ‘Deathwing’ shout the well-known quote, “I AM DEATHWING”. It appears that the game should closely resemble WoW enough to be comfortable for players.
