Naughty Dog Info on Twitter announced that Misty Lee and Phillip Kovats will both be reprising their roles in The Last of Us HB as the female and male clickers, respectively. This was later confirmed by the voice actors themselves via their social media accounts.
Misty and I had an incredible time collaborating with Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin to bring these characters back to life, performing alongside some incredible actors, Kovats tweeted.
These creatures are commonly referred to as clickers because of the clicking noise their teeth make and they employ a form of echolocation to hunt down their prey. Although their presence hasn’t been seen in the show yet, a closer look at the full trailer reveals they keep the same design as they do in the game. They’re the third type of zombie-like monsters following behind runners and stalkers, and you can easily recognize them because of the sound coming from their teeth that travels long distances.
The faces of these creatures are noticeably misshapen, covered by a large mass of fungus that grew from their brains, often leaving only a line of uneven teeth exposed. The fungus spreading from the host’s brain helps keep it alive and allows it to reproduce. In the game, a gun may shoot off a piece of the mold but not cause any serious damage, meaning Ellie’s switchblade is an effective tool for taking them out.
It is clear that Merle Dandridge is not the only star coming back to resume their characters, having Dandridge return as Marlene, the Firefly queen. Apart from her, Jeffrey Pierce, the voice of Tommy in the game, and acted by Gabriel Luna in the show, is now Firefly Perry.
The Last of Us aired Sunday and has beaten out HBO’s House of the Dragon for the network’s second-biggest opening in the last decade, with 4.7 million viewers. Additionally, both critics and fans are praising the show. An article was published which details the process of shooting one of the story’s most emotional death scenes and what could have changed in the opening.
