The follow up to Beyond Good And Evil could possibly be considered the game with the lengthiest development cycle since it was first introduced, but Ubisoft has eased all worries of those who eagerly await the sequel, confirming that it’s still on the way.
Recent times have not been particularly successful for Ubisoft. This week, the company declared the cancellation of three unannounced games as well as a delay for Skull & Bones, the latter being the sixth time it has been put off. Fortunately, according to information from PCGamesN, fans eagerly awaiting Beyond Good And Evil 2 have no need to worry; its development hasn’t been affected.
The Ubisoft representative has stated that the team is diligently working on the progress of Beyond Good and Evil 2, with the goal of fulfilling the assumptions they have made.
In November of 2022, according to news from Insider Gaming, the much longed-for Beyond Good and Evil 2 was said to have been part of both internal and external playtesting. This was a definitive upgrade on what was heard before concerning movement on the game, which had not been very positive. While it is still in the initial stages of development, the revelations are a cause for celebration.
Insider Gaming reported that based on footage and photos, the game appeared to have been restarted since its demonstration in 2018, leading them to believe that its launch was still at least two years away. This conjecture aligns with earlier accounts that pointed to Ubisoft changing their approach to the game after it featured at E3 in 2018.
Ubisoft cancelled three unannounced games, however they still have a number of projects they are working on. This includes the soon to be released Assassins Creed Mirage; a reimagining of the original Splinter Cell; the grand endeavor of Assassins Creed Infinity; a video game rendition of James Cameron’s Avatar universe - Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora; and most importantly the continuing production of Beyond Good and Evil 2.
